I underwent radical surgical treatment for prostate cancer 14 years ago, but have experienced a number of the complications associated with major surgery. I have been a volunteer with Tackle Prostate Cancer and Prostate Cancer UK for many years both raising awareness and involved in education of patients and Healthcare professionals. I have talked with very many patients over the years and shared their experiences. I am currently the patient representative for Tackle and represent patients on a number of national bodies such as NICE, SMC and NPCA. The voice of patients in every arena is vital. I am also a retired medic but will always be a patient first and a doctor second.
