Stephen Abbs is a Clinical Molecular Geneticist with over 25 years experience directing the NHS Clinical Genomics laboratories at Addenbrooke's and Guy's Hospitals. In those roles he continually aimed to improve the quality of genetic testing by introducing new laboratory technologies and approaches. He chaired UK NEQAS steering committees for several years, undertaking assessments of clinical genetic laboratory testing, and is the current Chair of the Quality Sub-Committee of the UK Association for Clinical Genomic Science. He continues his interest in ensuring high quality of laboratory testing, working part-time as a Specialist Advisor on Medical Laboratories for the Care Quality Commission. His main current role is with Inagene Diagnostics UK Ltd, a relatively new UK company, working to introduce Pharmacogenomics into clinical practice through partnerships with the NHS.
