A general blood test at 65 led to a diagnosis of locally advanced prostate cancer, radical prostatectomy and residual radiotherapy. It also led to engagement with the amazing 500-strong Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Support Group. I became a trustee, then editor of its quarterly magazine. In 2023 it resumed funding PSA testing in two centres. Promotion for this year’s events is focused on difficult-to-reach communities. A year ago I was elected onto the board of Tackle, a privilege which brings me into contact with many inspirational people across the U.K. fighting for better PCa outcomes.
