Laura Monje-Garcia
National Lead Nurse for the Lynch syndrome project,
St Mark's centre for familial intestinal cancer
Laura is a nurse practitioner at the St Mark's centre for familial intestinal cancer, which embeds the polyposis registry, the family cancer and Lynch syndrome services. She is also the National Lead Nurse of the Lynch syndrome project and a Clinical Research Fellow.
Laura is also a health psychologist and has been working with patients living with inherited conditions since 2012. She started working with patients with rare dementias at UCLH, and later with patients with inherited cardiac conditions at Imperial college, Guy's, St Thomas's & King's college Hospitals. She started working with patients living with inherited colorectal cancer syndromes in 2020, and she has started her own research project looking at the psychological impact of living with inherited colorectal cancer. Today she is going to talk about her work with PPI groups and why it is important. She will also facilitate patients histories.
