Cancer Specialist Physiotherapist, Active Against Cancer & Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust
Kerry is a cancer specialist physiotherapist at Active Against Cancer, Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust. She studied her BSc in Sports Therapy before qualifying as a chartered physiotherapist in 2007. Having specialised in respiratory medicine in the earlier part of her career this led to her interest in oncology. Taking up an oncology specialist post at Castle Hill Hospital in Hull, Kerry lead the physiotherapy team within the inpatient oncology unit for 5 years. In June 2019 she took up the post of cancer specialist physiotherapist with a newly established unique oncology exercise referral service – Active Against Cancer, based in Harrogate as part of Harrogate and District Foundation Trust. She has been an integral part of the service set up delivering exercise to people diagnosed with cancer, supporting them from diagnosis through their treatment and beyond. The service was highly commended at the NHS Parliamentary Awards in 2021. Kerry is an active committee member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapist in Oncology and Palliative Care where she holds the position of Treasurer and Grants officer. Her current interests involve the development of exercise guidelines for those with a stoma and she is working both locally and nationally with colleagues. She is also a trained ScarWorks therapist.
