Jonathan Shamash

Medical Oncology Consultant, Barts Health NHS Trust
Jonathan Shamash is a consultant medical oncologist at Barts Health NHS trust. He leads the germ cell tumour group there and chairs the Anglian Germ Cell Group supra regional Multi Disciplinary Meeting as well as being a member of the MAGIC consortium. He has been a previous chair of the NCRI testis group and has designed and led various phase 2 and phase 3 studies. His main interest is in germ cell tumour management are de-escalation of therapy in metastatic disease – with the aim of reducing acute and long-term side effects. He has been a proponent of carboplatin monotherapy in metastatic seminoma. In relapsed disease he has been involved in the development various strategies including the use of oxaliplatin based combination chemotherapy , and dose dense chemotherapy approaches . He is responsible for the supra-regional network provision of high dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation for relapsed disease. His other main area of interest is the modern management of metastatic prostate cancer and the contribution of racial disparities to the varying outcomes of the disease. Jonathan also works at Queens covering Mesothelioma, Bladder and Renal cancer.
