Isla Veal, a highly specialist physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience working in oncology and specialising in the implementation of physical activity. Isla completed her clinical research Masters degree which highlighted the need for physical activity promotion by health care professionals for people diagnosed with colorectal cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. Isla has developed a physical activity pathway for people from all tumour groups which stratifies to required level of supported care. Patients receive support for specialist needs, online interventions and community leisure activities all embedded within a model of behavioural change to create and maintain long term physical activity participation. Isla has also been recently involved with development of prehabilitation programme within colorectal cancer. Her most recent endeavour is to address the quality of oncology physical activity care across the Trust and local boroughs.
