Dr Sophie McGrath Consultant Medical Oncologist, Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Trust
Dr Sophie McGrath is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden Hospital, specialising in Breast Cancer and Acute Oncology seeing patients in both the NHS and Private Practice. She studied Medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, and undertook her Oncology training at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, St George’s and Guy’s Hospitals, London. She was awarded a PhD from the University of Surrey in 2015, researching biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment response in ovarian cancer. Dr McGrath has worked as a Consultant at The Royal Marsden and Kingston Hospitals since February 2017, providing compassionate, patient-centred clinical care, to complement her broad experience of chemotherapy, hormonal and targeted therapy, as well as immunotherapy prescribing. She has played a pivotal role in the development of the Acute Oncology Service at the Sutton site since 2017. Dr McGrath is Principle and Sub-Investigator for breast cancer clinical trials at The Royal Marsden and Kingston Hospitals and has particular research interests in digital technology to promote patient activation and engagement in early breast cancer, as well as acute symptom monitoring and management. She is a member of The Royal Marsden’s Drugs and Therapeutics Committee, Acute Oncology Group, and is Breast Medical Oncology Specialist Advisor for the new Digital Health Record.
