RadNet PhD Student,
BARTS CANCER INSTITUTE
I am a final year RadNet PhD student investigating how we can make radiotherapy more effective by targeting tumour blood vessel signalling. In my research, I have found that the level of activation of a specific protein, called ‘FAK’, in the endothelial cells lining the blood vessels, correlates with clinical responses to radiotherapy in breast cancer. I am also trying to understand the mechanisms for endothelial cell-FAK regulation of tumour blood vessel responses to radiotherapy and developing antibody-drug conjugates to sensitise tumours to radiation. Through RadNet, I have participated in patient & public engagement projects which has motivated me through my PhD.
