5k Your Way

MOVE Charity:

Our mission at MOVE Charity is to support and inspire more and more people to Move Against Cancer because Movement Matters.

Our key areas of work are:

MOVE Online 8 week virtual support Programme: MOVE offers a free 8-week online building foundations programme for 13-30 year olds living with and beyond cancer. Our online programmes are led and designed by MOVE Level 4 Cancer Rehab Specialists. This programme is available to all, regardless of whether they have been active or inactive before they were diagnosed with cancer.

“The programme was so helpful for me and allowed me to get back into fitness without the worry of pushing myself too far and setting my recovery back. I really enjoyed the workouts and loved the weekly programmes which helped me to stay on track and kept me in a routine.” - MOVE online programme participant.

5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer Groups: 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer is a community-based initiative and a support group with a difference. Our aim is to encourage those living with and beyond cancer, their families and friends, and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer at a local 5k Your Way group at designated parkrun events on the last Saturday of every month. 5k Your Way was launched in 2018- a project which aims to promote participation in parkrun across the UK and Ireland by those living with, and impacted by, cancer.

Our mission is to create a supportive community that inspires and empowers people impacted by cancer to live an active and fulfilling lifestyle. We help people to find their way to Move Against Cancer.

At 5k Your Way, we encourage people to focus on what they CAN do. We want to give people the confidence to go out and be physically active and to feel the benefits of exercise both physically and mentally.

“What better way to feel normal (whatever normal is) than taking part in something where cancer is not the reason to be somewhere at 9am on a Saturday morning. I would encourage anyone who is interested to reach out to their local 5k Your Way  group, and get involved. You won’t regret it!” - 5k Your Way Participant, Weymouth.

Each group is led by a volunteer ambassador, who is instrumental in building the local 5K Your Way community. We have 86 5k Your Way groups in the UK and Ireland, to find your nearest group please have a look at our locations section HERE or our map HERE.

Move Your Way Resources: Since lockdown in March 2020, we have been developing a group of resources to inspire and support you to be active whether you have just been diagnosed with cancer, are undergoing treatment for cancer or are recovering after cancer treatment.

One of these resources is The Move Against Cancer Podcast: This podcast aspires to support and inspire people to move, exercise and live an active and fulfilling life despite a cancer diagnosis. We share the stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
