Navigating information around nutrition, diet, physical activity, and body weight for those living with and beyond cancer can be challenging and knowing when and how to provide this support even more so. In the first half of this session, World Cancer Research Fund will share the main findings from their reviews on the impact of diet, physical activity and body weight on medical outcomes and quality of life in those living with and beyond breast cancer and colorectal cancer. They will also take the time to share their experiences of interpreting research in this population, highlighting the difficulties they’ve faced when doing so.
Despite these challenges, there is no doubt that malnutrition has multiple implications both during and after cancer. One of the greatest tools we have against this is personalised prehabilitation, and the second half of the session will highlight considerations needed when providing nutritional support. Through case studies, practical advice to equip oncology professionals to provide advice around nutrition before, during and after treatment will be given.
Resources in supporting healthy living in those living with and beyond cancer from World Cancer Research Fund will be provided.
